Do I need a visa to travel to Rwanda?
Yes. Each person travelling on an Australian passport requires a visa to travel to Rwanda.
What types of visas are available for Australian passport holders?
- A single entry visa (Validity: 15 days) (Cost: US$60 upon arrival in Rwanda)
- Single-entry transit visa (Validity: 2 days) (Cost: US$60 upon arrival in Rwanda)
- Single-entry, renewable Tourist or Visitor visa (Validity: 3 months) (Cost: US$60 upon arrival in Rwanda)
- Cost of renewing a Tourist/Visitor visa: 25,000 RwF, approximately US$60
- Multiple-entry Resident visa (Business or Working) (Validity: 2 years) (Cost: 200,000 RwF, approximately US$450 upon arrival in Rwanda)
- Multiple-entry Permanent visa (Validity: indefinite duration) (Cost: 200,000 RwF, approximately US$450 upon arrival in Rwanda)
How do I obtain a visa?
- For visitors travelling on a valid Australian Passport, visa applications and Entry Facility applications should be made online at: www.migration.gov.rw
- Applications for an Entry Facility should be made at least two weeks prior to your arrival in Rwanda.
- Complete the application form and click ‘send this application.’
- Rwandan Immigration will then e-mail you an Entry Facility Letter as an adobe pdf attachment, within 2 working days of receiving your application.
- Take a copy of your Entry Facility letter for presentation to your airline.

You will be issued with your visa upon presentation of your Facility letter and payment of your visa costs (in US$ cash) at an Official Customs and Entry Point upon your arrival in Rwanda.

What immunisations and vaccinations do I need?
All travellers should visit either their personal doctor or a travel health clinic six to eight weeks before departure.
The following immunisations/vaccinations are compulsory for travel to all areas of Rwanda:
- Yellow Fever
The following immunisations/vaccinations are recommended for travel to all areas of Rwanda:
- Diphtheria
- Hepatitis A
- Malaria prophylaxis (with Lariam, Malarone, or doxycycline)
- Polio
- Tetanus
- Typhoid
The following immunisations/vaccinations should be considered for travel to all areas of Rwanda:
- Hepatitis B
- Rabies
